My daughter is headed to middle school in the fall. The school to which she is assigned sent home a letter, signed by the principal. The following lines were lifted from said letter.

If you were to judge that quote using standard Ebonics, I think you'll find that "wasn't" is the only correct word in that sentence.

If you were to judge that quote using standard ebonics, all the rest of the quote would be wrong. You would have to use partial ebonics, standard english with ebonics thrown in only on select words, only for effect. Think gangsta-wannabes from the south..... Arkansas or Tennessee maybe.
