This is my most recent "Angry Independent" segment on Glenn Beck - and actually the last "Angry Independent" segment on Glenn Beck for now because Glenn stopped the show last Thursday in preparation for a move to Fox in February. I learned this only when somebody emailed me to ask me if I knew Glenn was moving to Fox. That's how out of the loop I am.
Anyway, it's too bad because there was plenty to complain about with this election. I'd hoped to touch upon the lack of attention third parties get, and my disdain for the "Vote No Matter What!" ads that encourage people who don't know anything about their candidates to rush out and vote. That's not really democracy, that's dumbocracy.
This "Politykes" installment is one of my favorites because I detest using kids as props in a political campaign. It's creepy, as evidenced by the startlingly awful "Sing for Change" video and it's corny, as we see in the "Kids for McCain" spot. Really, must we drag our little ones into this? I think we should endeavor to keep kids non-partisan for as long as possible.

Will you be able to follow Glenn over to Fox News? I really enjoyed your Public Viewer segments and Angry Independent was great. I looked forward to your segments each week.

Thanks. I'd love to, though that's up to Glenn. -B.

You know, while it might not equal the number of homes you reach on Mr. Beck's program, this website does have a sizeable readership. So rather than lament what you were still hoping to address on his program, why not dedicate a post or two to why everyone should VOTE FOR CHUCK BALDWIN FOR PRESIDENT!?!?

Well, there's something about politics that tends to alienate 50% of your audience. My guess is people tune in to Glenn for a dose of it, but people stop by here to get away from it.

I think I see your point about kids and politics. But if you saw my son to phonebank to swing states you might change your mind. It's just too adorable!

Well, I hope to see you on the FNC version of Beck's show.
I would have really loved to have seen segments on third parties, and on the pushy voting encouragement programs. I think anyone who is swayed to vote by things like that stupid "Vote or Die!" thing (uh... sorry about that, Diddy), should not vote.

Using the children, I've decided, is the ultimate form of arrogance. It assumes that your view is the only realistic view and the other views are simply dead wrong.
The comment about the singing being much like the Hitler youth demonstrates exactly what I'm referring to.

Being from a swing state, I stopped watching any and all news networks last November and get my news from BBC International.com. Despite precautions, I have still been inundated with election materials. Entire forests have been denuded in the interest of telling me how bad all of the other candidates are and why I should vote for (fill in the blank). Thank you Brian for being the Angry Independent. It is a refreshing change after listening to the talking heads that represent CNN (a hazard of frequent travel).
