“There is a very good likelihood that the Taser was used well before the situation called for it,” said Alex Neve.

I lived in Vancouver for quite some time - I usually opted for a package of smoked salmon and a case of Granville Island microbrew for my out-of-town guests in lieu of a death ray. Maybe I'm just a softie.

The sad thing is, this episode is being used by liberals (of all people) to force the New Zealand Police to stop using tasers in favour of guns "because they're safer."

As a Canadian I find this image totally - perfect. I mean, why they didn’t grab a heart defibrillator and slam it to the poor guy's chest, is beyond me! I can see airport security in Canada all having big back packs and walking around with paddles – just ready for action...heart stopping image. There’s a website where they advertise “Defibrillators for Less” – maybe they could get a bulk discount as in the long run, its much cheaper than having translators on hand to perhaps help foreigners communicate more effectively. The guy could have been saying “Oh my god you bastards lost my luggage and my heart medication is in it! Oh my god! I need my heart medication.”
ZAP!
“I’m sorry I didn’t quite catch what you were saying, could you try that again with 50000 volts running through your body?”
Oh my god who hired these guys? I can imagine the locker room tête-à-tête.
Hey Joe, I think my battery is dead in my taser!
Just do what we do at home with the old nine volts, stick it on your tongue.
Oh ho ho, I’m not going to fall for that trick again!

What’s the old adage? “It’s easier to beg forgiveness than to ask what the problem is.”

"fatally welcoming"

Classic...

A literary gem
