I am willing to forgive "weird" because the poor guy actually looks like Weird Al. I'm willing to forgive the sheriff's office with the lamb involved there were likely some larger issues at stake. But the other two? Frankly, it's a tie.

I can forgive the misspellings of cops and small businesses. But international companies that use schmancy PR firms ... ? Never!

I hold a special place (in hell) for signage gaffes, because it requires several people to write, review copy, lay out, print in large size, etc.
Personally feel that sign manufacturers should be held criminally liable - that'd ensure they'd give these things a better review.

"Graphically awkward poll" shouldn't have a hyphen in it (an adverb already refers to the word it precedes). I'm just sayin'.

At any rate, the juice ad has multiple other errors (capitalized "juice" and "vitamins," and an ampersand smack in the middle of a sentence) that make it a serious contender.

But in the end, it's always the one that tries too hard that looks the stupidest.

I was going to forgive the Weird Al ad, but if you read the text, both spellings of weird (the correct one and the "wierd" one) are used. This is just another example of someone being paid for doing a half-arsed job.

I have to go with the juice, it's not an alcoholic beverage. I can't spell while drinking alcohol, but I would think anyone could while drinking juice. And the other two were just, well, weird.

I should also point out that in addition to "weird" the folks at Icons managed to spell "Yankovic" wrong.

I'm going to have to borrow the beer ad. Your GP posts prove that I'm not the only freak about this stuff.

I don’t see spelling mistakes are sloppy but don’t really as bad grammar, just sloppiness. The use of “It’s” where “its” belongs is just laughable and makes me want to say “your dumb.”

Just discovered your site, and the Grammar Cop entries in particular. I've got a whole section of photos of written-language abuse on my Flickr account. Keep up the good work. It's heartbreaking that the people who commit these errors are also the people least likely to give a crap.
