Complaint: Improper execution of a contraction; failure of advertising agency to realize this; approval of grammatical blunder by the appropriate department of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of New York City; mounting said offense to the side of mass-transit vehicles with intent to distribute bad grammar throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Defendant: ANM Funding, a mortgage broker licensed in New York, New Jersey and Florida.
Report: Officer was standing at a crosswalk with his mega-pregnant wife when the offending grammatical faux-pas passed him at approximately 12 mph. Officer then engaged in on-foot pursuit of the vehicle for approximately one block south until the vehicle came to a stop. Passengers seemed unsure as to why someone was taking photographs of the side of their bus. Officer left before a crowd formed, and returned to his mega-pregnant wife who wanted to know what the hell was going on.
Fine: $226 and mandatory proofreading sensitivity classes for all advertising agency and ANM marketing department accomplices.

Okay, I've heard rumors that I doesn't talk good grammar (yes, I spelled it correctly) on here, but that's because I can do whatever the Hell I feel like doing. This is my blog. If I want to write in...

am i alone in being upset at the second reason
this ad should be fined?
can people simply use the checkmark used for indicating feet (the measurement) instead of the proper mark, an apostrophe and get away with it?
the same goes for the nimrods who use the mark for inches (also a measurement) instead of proper quotations.
really, it‘s just me?

There's probably a pun on "punctual" there...

Trevor-
That's possibly out of the jursidiction. Typesetting offenses are covered by Font Cop, who doesn't exist yet.

also, that's not a proper apostraphe, it's a foot mark.

Yes it's wrong! But ... if life's banal little trivialities such as this are so important, then god help us! If this misdemenour is so important to you or the cop concerned, then all I can say is ... GET A LIFE!

Before anyone corrects Chris on "misdemeanour" be advised he's from New Zealand, and that's how they spell it. Why he's humorless, I can't say. I expected more from the Kiwis.

Brian has a strange idea of what constitutes humour (yep we spell it Humour), Chris.

I agree on the apostrophe point made by Trevor. I wish I could secure a graphic design job simply becasue I am aware of this issue. I also know better than to letterspace lower-case letters!
But alas I am working as a printer of wedding invitations mostly, and have found some scary typos in them: "Marraige" "Unit in marriage" "the Six of June" etc.
